Community Coalition – Prevention SpecialistPART-TIME
San Juan Counseling and the SJCPAC Coalition are seeking to fill part-time Prevention Specialist positions in the following communities
MONTEZUMA CREEK
JOB DESCRIPTION: Prevention Specialist will serve as a front-line representative for the SJCPAC Coalition within their local community (see above). They must be able to build cooperative relationships with community leaders, agencies, volunteers, and other stakeholders, while promoting evidence-based prevention strategies that will help raise prevention awareness and encourage community prevention buy-in. The Prevention Specialist will also support and oversee San Juan County Youth Coalition work within their community. This position requires good leadership and people skills which will enable the Prevention Specialist to schedule meetings, take minutes and report to the county Prevention Coordinator and SJCPAC Coalition on local prevention work. Position will also require administration of local surveys and various other prevention activities. (NOTE: This grant is funded through March 2025 – with the possibility of additional funding going forward)
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants need to have excellent organizational, leadership and people skills, which will be needed to build and maintain a strong work group in their community. Must be able to work well with youth. Must be self-motivated and trustworthy. Must be able to travel throughout San Juan County, as well to prevention trainings and conferences on a state and possibly national level. Must complete the UTAH SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION SPECIALIST TRAINING (SAPST) training within 2 months of being hired, and to ongoing professional development and training on prevention science. Must be comfortable using computers and software applications. Must have a current driver’s license and pass a background check.
PAY SCHEDULE: Beginning salary entry level $16.00 and up, depending on experience, with the possibility of a Prevention Part-Time Stipend.
